The final straw?

Tuesday, January 03, 2023

Adrian Grenier, and his entourage (pun intended!) of celebrities, are fighting plastic pollution, especially in the form of plastic straws. Why? Because it sucks. And until recently, I used to suck, too. Did you know that the US alone uses 500 MILLION plastic straws on a daily basis?! This year a photograph of a seahorse holding onto a cotton bud which was floating in the ocean, along with many reports of dead wales washing up on shores with bellies full of plastic waste have caused a major stir in society and finally raised awareness for plastic's impact on our ecosystems. It feels like we are finally coming to the realisation that our consumption and the waste it is generating is slowly but surely choking our planet with plastic. Through this witty campaign, some pretty cool merch and by showing alternatives for plastic straws, Grenier challenges our society to think beyond the issue of lipstick stains on glasses and looking cool while sipping (wait, sucking) fancy cocktails! So why not check out the campaign and pledge to #StopSucking, maybe even cut plastic out of other parts of your life, too! ;-)

Love Yourself First

Thursday, February 23, 2023

Let's be real girls and boys- is there even such a thing as practicing too much self-love? I honestly don't think so. Not for nothing we are so often reminded of the importance of being fully content with our flaws and truly loving ourselves first, before we can give true love to someone else. Therefore, always Love Yourself First. This is a heart-warming campaign by German artist Laura Klinke. Her Instagram project was created to raise awareness about the beauty that is inherent in each and everyone of us. By mainly focussing on us women, Klinke's quirky drawings are praising individuality and acceptance by talking about common obstacles, breaking all taboos and challenging the way we perceive our and other people's flaws. Stop considering what a society, who has been shaped by people who aren't your gender or age or even wage group for that matter (honestly, personal trainers and meal planners and beauty appointments are pure utopia for most people!), thinks you should look and act like! We have to stick together and encourage one another to see how beautiful we all really are! This campaign just makes you want to treat your body and soul extra nicely and be grateful for it, too :-)
